Australia: Former Australian cricketer Derry Berry turned down the job role of Pakistan Fielding coach offered by the PCB.
Former Australian state team cricketer/batsman Darren Berry rejected the job of Pakistan Field Coach offered by the Pakistan Cricket board (PCB). He said, it is too early for him to take the full time international job. Darren Berry is currently working for the Pakistan Supreme League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United as a Fielding coach.
Darren Berry rejects the offer by saying “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity offered to me by Micky Aurthur and PCB”. After having a healthy discussion with PCB, I have decided that it is too early for me to join an International full time travelling job when I have a young family with me (Berry has three children ).
He further continued by saying that he will continue to look for the opportunity in the coming future he quoted.
“I will continue to work for the Islamabad United in PSL and will keep my mind open to be in relation to the international Coaching opportunities in coming future.
Derry Barren, the right-hand batsman was considered for the job position in the replacement of Pakistan Former Fielding coach Steve Rixon. Steve Rixon has decided not to renew his contract due to some of his personal and professional reasons.
Berry before getting associated with Islamabad United spent 15 years with the Australian states Cricket team and played 152 first class matches. Furthermore, he also spent four years with South Australian Domestic Team and trained them for 2010-11 Big Bash victory.
