Safe and Secure “Islamabad”

The Inspector General of Islamabad, Tariq Masood Yaseen gives details to the Interior Committee of Senate revealed that according to reports of agency, there was news about a bomb blast in Islamabad.

But however, by successful operation of the Police, they saved the city from big losses.

He added that all expenses for the “Safe City Mission” has been utilized during this operation. He also added that Islamabad has been fully protected as it had to face the same situation like Mumbai and they cannot provide details about the terrorists.

He also revealed that last month 13 terrorists were plotting to target four major buildings of the city, including Quaid e Azam University, Allama Iqbal Open University and two other buildings. However, they were arrested before the time. He said that Intelligence agencies of India and Afghanistan have been supporting them and they belong to the Tehreek e Taliban.

Director General Nadra also told committee that security clearance has been kept mandatory foroverseas Pakistani wives. He added that the expiration of “Origin Card” will be extended.

Later, the chairman of committee Rehman Malik demanded an initial report of famous QawwalAmjadSabri’s assassination from Inspector General Sindh and ordered him to submit the report within one week to the Secretariat of Committee. The meeting was held in Parliament House, in which Additional Interior Secretary, IG Islamabad and Nadra administration along many other officers participated.  In this meeting, praises were given to Abdul SattarEdhi and AmjadSabri.

SSP Traffic Malik Matloob briefed committee that “E-Ticketing” system will be introduced to check over traffic violators and by this they can track terrorist also. He added that 1850 cameras have been installed in Islamabad’s entrance and exit and these cameras can easily detect many things such as face detection, number of passengers in a car. It can save up to faces of 10 thousand people at a time. It keeps on updating in the control room.

However, Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan got angry with IG Islamabad. He added that why he briefed about arresting of terrorist to media because these kind of news makes general public afraid. He also added that IG should have disclosed these things to the media. The Interior Minister in presence of journalist ordered his staff officers to order the IG not to disclose any news to the media.
